Reason To Replacment
If your HVAC unit is not performing at its best even after thorough cleaning, you should watch out for signs that may indicate a damaged evaporator coil. These include:
If HVAC coils become contaminated, they can spread harmful bacteria and viruses through the air.
If your system is over 15 years old and suffers from extreme damage, getting a new AC installation might be more cost-effective in the long run.
Frozen equipment
Faulty coils can prevent the system from absorbing heat, causing the refrigerant to freeze the surrounding condensation and creating frost on your equipment.
Leaks
A damaged evaporator coil can cause condensate lines to clog and eventually leak water.
Warm airflow
Inadequate cooling can be a result of faulty coils failing to treat circulating air.
Unusual sounds
Frozen evaporator coils can produce a constant buzzing noise when air is not passing through them.

IS THE TIME RIGHT FOR AN EVAPORATOR COIL REPLACEMENT?
If your evaporator coils have eroded due to wear and tear, replacement may be the only solution. As your air conditioner ages, the refrigerant flowing through the coils can weaken the inner lining, making the coils vulnerable to significant leaks.
The extent of the damage will determine whether we recommend replacing the coil or the entire AC unit. Investing in a new unit may be a more cost-effective solution in the long run, as frequent repairs and refrigerant refills can become costly when added up over time.
There are several reasons why your evaporator coil may fail, including age-related corrosion and breakdown or improper maintenance leading to coil freezing and malfunction. Regardless of the cause, you can count on H-Town Air Conditioning for assistance with your evaporator coil.
Our team of experts will promptly respond to your service request and diagnose the issue with your coil. With our efficient services, we can usually fix the problem in no time, restoring your AC unit's optimal performance.
Why is an AC evaporator coil important?
The evaporator coil is one of the most critical parts of an AC unit, and it plays a vital role in the cooling process. The coil is filled with a refrigerant, and as warm air passes over the coil, the refrigerant evaporates. This change of state absorbs heat from the air, cooling it down. The cold air is then blown into the room. So, a healthy evaporator coil is essential for maintaining a comfortable indoor environment.
But several things can go wrong with an AC evaporator coil, including:
If there is a leak in the evaporator coil, the refrigerant will escape, and the cycle will not be able to continue. This can cause the compressor to overheat and eventually fail. In addition, leaks can also cause ice to build on the coils, which reduces their ability to absorb heat. If you suspect that your evaporator coil is leaking, it is essential to have it repaired as soon as possible to avoid further damage to your HVAC system.
If HVAC coils become contaminated, they can spread harmful bacteria and viruses through the air. A recent study found that HVAC coils can be up to ten times more effective at spreading viruses than other surfaces. As a result, it is important to keep HVAC coils clean and free of contaminants. The best way to do this is to have the coils professionally cleaned regularly. This will ensure that they continue to function correctly and do not pose a risk to the health of occupants.
The evaporator coils are responsible for providing the airflow that circulates the air in the system. If the coils are dirty or blocked, the airflow will be restricted. This can cause the system to overheat, which can damage the compressor. In addition, it can make the system less efficient, resulting in higher energy costs.
A clogged AC drain line can be a major problem for your HVAC system. When the condensate drain line becomes blocked, it can cause the evaporator coils to freeze up. This can lead to a loss of cooling power and can eventually damage the compressor. The best way to prevent a clogged drain line is to regularly have your HVAC system serviced. A qualified technician will be able to clean the coils and clear any blockages in the drain.

We had to change coil on one of our conditioners. We called H-Town company and others to give us estimate. H-Town was one of the cheapest. And they we able to do the work next day! Guys were knowledgeable and did an amazing work just in a couple of hours. I’m so glad that we chose this company over others! I would recommend this company to my friends!
These guys were very helpful and knowledgeable around my two ACs. I had a broken coil and every other company I called wanted to charge me as if they were doing open heart surgery... these guys did the whole thing and went out of their way to work around my working hours. Also, honorable mention to Mark who does a great job answering all of my questions over the phone and quickly gained my business.
Despite the large number of service calls, they were able to accommodate a second-day service request at our required time. They called to warn us that they were running a little behind well in advance, and instead ended up arriving early. The service tech was very knowledgeable, diagnosed the issue quickly, and had the system up and running in nothing flat, even with going to pick up needed parts.
We really lucked out with H-Town: Alex is outstanding. He was timely, friendly, and funny. He repaired so many different things in our house, even driving to Home Depot in rush hour when he didn't have enough parts (we need two toilets repaired!). He spent quite a while fixing our dishwasher even after saying he thought it would need an appliance professional, and charged us so much less than we imagine it would cost. We'll hire them again any time we need plumbing or AC work.
The experience was excellent from the sales visit through the final installation. The options to choose from, rebates available, etc. were all clearly explained. On the day of service, the installers arrived as expected and completed the installation, as well as cleaning up the area completely afterwards. I have used H Town AC company for a few years now for maintenance of my previous a/c and will continue to use them.
They showed up when they said they would and did an excellent job. I am very picky about how things are done and they met all my expectations, They even came back out the next day fixed a minor issue I had with no problem. If you want someone that will come to you house and tell you what you need not what he wants to sell you call H Town AC. Thanks!
